Jordan Drexler is a lawyer that practices exclusively in defending those charged with criminal and quasi-criminal offences. Jordan graduated with distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Ancient Mediterranean Studies before attending law school at the University of Alberta.

Criminal Law is all that I do, and all that I’ve ever wanted to dedicate my life to. My undergraduate degree is in Forensic Science (B.Sc.F.S.), which means that I have the in-depth background knowledge necessary to fully understand these aspects of your case.
While completing my Juris Doctor at Western Law, I specialized in criminal law, including specialized classes in evidence, sentencing, police accountability, Aboriginal law, and youth justice.
During this time I also completed a clerkship with various Judges at the London Ontario Court of Justice. Ryan Heighton holds a Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario, where he specialized in criminal law. He also holds two science degrees, both from Trent University, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Honours in Biology and Psychology, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Life Sciences, which included breast cancer research.
While studying law at Osgoode, Ryan won the prize as the top student in the acclaimed Criminal Law Intensive Programme, where he did a placement with the judiciary at a Toronto branch of the Ontario Court of Justice. This experience gave him early insight into the thought process of judges, and what they find persuasive. Terry MacKean is a criminal lawyer based in Kitchener, Ontario with 39 years of courtroom experience. Terry joined the Attorney General’s Department of Justice in 1977 and prosecuted all types of criminal offences for 28 years. For the last 15 years of his service in Manitoba, he was a senior prosecutor and routinely prosecuted the most serious cases. He earned a reputation as a determined and formidable lawyer.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nicholas attended the University of Manitoba where he received his Bachelor of Arts (2001) and Bachelor of Laws (2004).
From the very beginning he had an interest in criminal law and as a second and third year law student worked at the University of Manitoba Law Clinic where he had his first experience defending clients. Following law school he articled with the Manitoba Department of Justice and worked there for four years as a Crown Attorney after being called to the bar.
During his years as a Crown Attorney, he worked in the General Prosecutions Unit and was a member of the Impaired Driving Working Group. In this capacity, he gained extensive experience at all levels of court. He conducted more impaired trials in four years than many defence lawyers have in 10 years.

This offence, sometimes called “Driving Under the Influence” (DUI) or “Driving while Intoxicated” (DWI) is one of the most common criminal offences in Canada. People from all walks of life often find themselves facing the possibility of a criminal record, the loss of driving privileges and higher insurance premiums.
There are three main Impaired Driving offences:
1. Impaired Driving
2. Driving over the Allowable Limit (.08)
3. Refusing to provide a breath sample
The consequences of a conviction are significant. A person who pleads guilty or is found guilty after trial is faced with the following consequences:
1. A minimum fine of $1000
2. A prohibition from driving for a period of one year
3. In Ontario – Anyone convicted of an impaired driving related offence is required to take a course called “Back on Track.” The cost of the course is approximately $900.
4. Ignition Interlock Program – In Ontario first time offenders are required to have an ignition interlock device installed on the vehicle that they intend to drive.
5. Insurance premiums will likely triple after a conviction.

Shoplifting
This is the most common type of theft in the criminal courts. If you have no record, the chance of being sentenced to jail is virtually non-existent. Nonetheless, a conviction for theft will leave you with a criminal record which may impact your ability to travel or secure certain types of employment.
